Hello, My Name is Anxious
Hello Everyone! Sorry I’ve been MIA recently! I’ve been working and also relaxing before heading back to school. But I’m back! (both at school and back to posting). I came back yesterday, a day early because of a snowstorm. (But I wrote this a few weeks ago so sorry if the tenses change). Usually, I want to come back a day early so I have the rest of that day, plus the next, to relax and adjust before classes start again. For this break, I was happy to have that extra day, but I was also anxious. Then again… I usually am. Continue reading “Hello, My Name is Anxious”

The Red Ball
Hello! Happy Sunday! Since I haven’t had any time to write anything new (or good) because of finals and now working over break, I’m going to post another poem! The prompt for this poem was to use a specific voice. Can you figure out who the voice is supposed to be? Enjoy! Continue reading “The Red Ball”
Grandpa’s Favorite Things
Happy Sunday! Sorry I’ve been so inactive, it’s finals season and things are hectic! This week I decided to post yet another poem I wrote for my poetry class. This poem is based off of Martin Espada’s poem “Ghazal for a Tall Boy in New Hampshire” which I have linked here. The topic of a ghazal poem is usually about pain or loss and is composed of couplets – two lines per stanza. (because of the formatting of WordPress the lines may be longer or shorter but in the originally poem each stanza was two lines) This poem centers around the loss of my grandfather and I used the phrase “remember”, or variations of that word, for repetition to use as emphasis and to tie the poem together. I hope you enjoy! Continue reading “Grandpa’s Favorite Things”
Dear Best Friend(s): College Edition
Happy Sunday! One of my first posts on my blog was a letter called “Dear Best Friends” (Click here to read it!) In the post, I talked about the friendships I had with some of my best friends at the time, without mentioning their names. The other night, I realized, for many reasons, that the friendships I talked about aren’t really the same anymore. While it’s sad, I know things changed. Things have changed so much since the date I wrote the letter, so I decided to write a new letter – this time to my best friends at college. This is not a continuation of the first post, nor a substitution, but an addition. I will always have the memories from my friends but I also want to document and say how thankful I am for my new friends at SU. As with the last post, I will not mention names as to keep the same format (although I have mentioned them here multiple times, I want to keep it as similar to the first letter as possible). Don’t worry guys, you’ll know who you are. So, without further ado, please enjoy my newest edition!
